The Uttarakhand government has issued new directions for the Char Dham Yatra, scheduled to begin from April 22, 2023. As per new reports, all pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra will be required to undergo mandatory registration.
This year, the state is expecting more pilgrims to turn up for the Char Dham Yatra. Strict measures will be put in place to check that all domestic and international pilgrims have done their compulsory registration. No one will be allowed to travel without the compulsory registration.
With the recent land subsidence in Joshimath, the state government has ordered all department officials to be on alert and to ensure safety and smooth operations during the Badrinath Yatra.
Badrinath Dham is the most crucial leg of the Char Dham this year because of the fresh cracks that have appeared on the Badrinath Highway, located near Joshimath. The town of Joshimath is the gateway to Badrinath Dham.
Badrinath Dham is located only 45 km from Joshimath, a distance that can be covered under two hours. This year, the authorities have again decided to use the Joshimath route instead of the Helang Bypass (located just 9 km before reaching Joshimath) as the bypass is still in the initial state of construction.
